Religion Rights: Policy, Politics & the Constitution
Religion rights play an increasingly prominent role in public policy, politics, and constitutional law. We see this in issues ranging from religious exceptions to COVID-19 restrictions and vaccine requirements to demands for equal public funding for religious education. At the same time, the Supreme Court has been simultaneously expanding constitutional free exercise rights, while at the same time limiting Establishment Clause restrictions on government support of religion. Professor Steve Schwinn will explore the policy, politics, and constitutional law of religion rights, and how we can incorporate these discussions into the classroom.
