Community Respondent
Highlights:
- These volunteers often serve as panelists and respondents for our student programs. Outside resource persons listen to and validate the ideas and projects presented by students, providing constructive feedback and modeling civil discussion.
- Research on law-related education shows that interaction with well-prepared volunteers has a positive effect on students’ learning and on the development of beneficial attitudes toward the law and legal institutions.
- Community respondent volunteers also serve as positive role models for students; these role models’ interest in and interaction with students helps develop bonds between students and community, an important factor in preventing antisocial behavior.
